Daydreaming with... James Lavelle

Dreaming with... takes place over the UK August bank holiday (August 27-30), and is the first in a series of annual festivals which aim to explore the relationship between music and art. Lavelle (aka UNKLE) is curating this first one, and will bring together works from an extensive list of his collaborators over the years, including Warren Du Preez and Nick Thornton Jones (artwork from UNKLE's latest album Where Did The Night Fall shown top), Jonathan Glazer, Futura, Ben Drury, Kai and Sunny, Oswaldo Macia, Nathan Coley, Simon Birch and Jamie Shovlin. Each artist will create a new artwork inspired by music composed for the project by UNKLE, and the music and art will be combined in the gallery space.

Saviours and Angels, however, is that rarest of things - a music video (or to be more precise: a short film set to music) that has been thought over as much as the track(s) it showcases, and can be viewed entirely independently, brimming with artistic merit of its own as it is. The three parts, directed by Paul Andrew Wilson, fit together to form a short film triptych that provides a relentlessly bleak look at urban alienation in Britain, in which each segment features an exclusive UNKLE song.

Now Showing

40+ Creatives were given the task of creating their own interpretation of a cult, classic or obscure film poster from the past, whether it be a literal or abstract solution. The result is Now Showing, an art exhibition paying homage to more than 70 years of film, through the form of prints, one off screenprints and sculptures.

Cosmic Wonder

Yukinori Maeda, head designer of Osaka-based Cosmic Wonder, has been on an otherworldy trip of sorts lately - white magic, mysticism, psychedelia and japanese folklore all find their place in their originally bizarrely amazingly good collections and Paris based gallery presentations from the last 2 seasons.He also decided to consolidate his prior higher end collection and more accessible denim line into one new idea: Light Source. For Light Source 1, Maeda explores the study of white magic and gives a glimpse of the heavenly realm where its mastery inevitably leads.

In 2007, Cosmic Wonder established a new space designed to become an integral part of Cosmic Wonder’s work. There will be events, films and concerts, the latest collections of Light Source, and new artworks of Cosmic Wonder.

Graphic Thought Facility

As profiled by The Guardian: "If you've recently had to navigate your way through a Marks & Spencer's store, or swung a Habitat brown carrier bag from your arm, you've been interacting with the work of this graphic design group." GTF was established by Paul Neale and Andy Stevens in 1990 (later joined by Huw Morgan), it mixes both commercial and cultural work, and most notably known for their identity work for the Design Museum London and the Frieze Art Fair. They are also responsible for the self-labelling cardboard MeBox which kinda gives IKEA a run for their money, very cool.

Jon Haddock

Jon Haddock is a talented & prolific artist from Arizona, having amassed a body of work and a series of exhibitions. He became known for his earlier work 'Screenshots' which is is a series of drawings from an isometric perspective, in the style of a computer game. The subject of each drawing is the image, or images, that created a popular cultural event. I particularly like 'Cartoon Violence' & 'Embedded' series, very intriguing installation pieces and artwork.

Historical events (like the assassination of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. at the Lorraine Motel) are used interchangeably with fictionalized events (like the picnic scene from The Sound of Music)." "For me," says Haddock, "there is something about all these events that I don't really understand or accept. My so-called life... Agathe de Bailliencourt

"My so-called life", a solo exhibition from Agathe de Bailliencourt, held at the Galerie Catherine & Andre Hug in Paris, from 17th April to 17th May. The exhibition will present her last paintings on canvas. The opening will take place on Saturday 19th of April from 4pm to 8pm at the Galerie Hug, 9 Rue de L'Echaude, 75006 Paris.
