The Design Society Conference 2012: Independence

This full-day event will kick start with a round-table discussion with 4 esteemed pioneer designers from the '70s, '80s and '90s who will share stories of Singapore's design scene during those periods and also their experiences in setting up their own studios. The discussion will be moderated by Graham Perkins who will be joined by Justin Zhuang, the author of the INDEPENDENCE book.

For the second half of the conference, four founders of graphic design studios in Singapore will take to the stage to present their story of independence. These four studios were chosen by the graphic design community here who voted online for their choice of speakers in February.

At the conference, The Design Society will also launch the first-ever book that documents the historical development and evolution of Singapore's graphic design industry. INDEPENDENCE: The history of graphic design in Singapore since the 1960s presents the history of the country's independent graphic design studios and a selection of the iconic work created by them over the last fifty years.

Wallpaper* Design Awards 2012: The Winners

Hot off the digital press comes Wallpaper* Annual Design Awards 2012. Eleven major awards have been chosen by a panel of five international judges. The other awards have been nominated and fought over by Wallpaper* staff and their international network of contributors.

One of my favorite piece is the 'Piani' desk light, by Ronan & Erwan Bouroullec, for Flos.

Plusminusten Press

Plusminusten featured on Fast Co. Design & Cubes Singapore. The comments on Fast Co. weren't so encouraging and unforgiving. But you know what? We tried, we delivered and we were contented with our interpretation. To all the elitist design snobberies out there, live and let live.

Steve Jobs (1955-2011)

"Your work is going to fill a large part of your life, and the only way to be truly satisfied is to do what you believe is great work. And the only way to do great work is to love what you do. If you haven't found it yet, keep looking. Don't settle. As with all matters of the heart, you'll know when you find it. And, like any great relationship, it just gets better and better as the years roll on." ~ Steve Jobs, Apple.

Wallpaper* 15th Anniversary issue

15 years on, Wallpaper's been outshining the rest on the newsstands with a startling array of covers that mix bold creative briefs with the best photography and styling. So, for their September anniversary issue, they’re asking us to pick our favourite and they’ll reprint this slice of Wallpaper* history to grace our personal copy of the magazine. How cool is that?

Can’t decide which is your favourite? It’s a tough call. So they’ve made life easy by giving us a second option: a montage of multiple covers. Select the grid icon above the blank cover, then just drag and drop the different covers into place to create a one-off work of art. Now get your arse comfy and get your copy!

WanderWonder - Music For The Masses Vol.1

An eclectic mix compiled & selected from my music-bag for my label WanderWonder.

This mix if anything, is mood-inducing with the highs & lows, showcasing the adventurous spirit of my
non-compromising DJ sets. The new mix is my least conventional, keeping a restraint from the recurring beats as I weaves through soundtrack, ambient, downtempo and rock pieces. By the end, though, it eases all the way into 'club mode'. Featuring a few early nineties gems and some recent standouts. Pretty much sums up to what the team listens to throughout the week.

Share, enjoy & thanks for listening.
